MELANIE LOHWATER OTR/L

Melanie Lohwater is a licensed Occupational Therapist. Melanie is a graduate of Mount Alyosius College in Cresson, Pennsylvania in 2001. She received a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy with a minor in Psychology. Melanie achieved a 4.0 GPA in her major and a 3.95 cumulative GPA earning her a spot on the Dean's List all 4 years. She is also a member of the Pi Theta Epsilon National Occupational Therapy Honors Society. Melanie is certified in Lymphedema-Complete Digestive Therapy (CDT) through the Upledger Institute, Manual Lymphedema Drainage (MLD) and Myofascial Release Techniques. She has completed advanced pediatric coursework in Sensory Integration, Therapeutic Listening^®, Interactive Metronome^®, Wilbarger Protocol, Astronaut Training and auditory processing evaluations and treatments. She also has experience in driving evaluations, pain management, kinesio taping and modalities including electrical stimulation and ultrasound. As a traveling therapist, Melanie has had a broad experience in numerous therapy settings such as hospital acute care, sub acute care, transitional care, skilled nursing facilities, home health care, outpatient rehabilitation facilities, hand therapy clinics, burn care units and chronic ventilator units. She has extensive experience working with adult, pediatric and geriatric.

HEATHER ADAMS, COTA

Heather Adams is a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and joined Personalized Therapy, LLC in 2007. In 1994, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Maryland. In 1997 she graduated from the Denver Institute of Technology with an Associates of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy. Prior to joining Personalized Therapy, LLC, Heather worked 9 years in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. She is certified in SAEBO training, an intensive dynamic and static orthosis and patient/caregiver training protocol. She has also received certifications in dysphagia treatments for deficits in swallowing. She has completed additional training in apraxia, behavioral management, and treatment of the shoulder complex. Her professional interests include neurology, arthritis, and pain management.

LISA MESMER, PT

Lisa Mesmer is a licensed Physical Therapist and joined Personalized Therapy, LLC in 2007. Lisa is a 1988 graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiological Sciences and a 1990 graduate of University of Maryland Eastern Shores with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy. Lisa has taken special coursework in stroke rehabilitation, post surgical orthopedics, pediatric growth and development, neurology, prenatal exercises, orthotics, shoulder injuries and back care. Lisa has put her many talents to use in hospital settings, rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing facilities and home health. She has also worked for the Health Department in the Infants and Toddlers program and in the local school system. Lisa is a lifelong resident of Southern Maryland. We at Personalized Therapy, LLC are pleased to have Lisa as a part of our clinical care team.

JENNIFER L. ROMAN, MPT

Jennifer Roman is a licensed Physical Therapist and joined Personalized Therapy, LLC in 2009. She is a 1999 graduate from St. Bonaventure University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a Masters in Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University in 2002. Her extensive coursework includes diagnosis and treatment of movement impairment syndromes, sports rehabilitation, and geriatric orthopedics. She has two years experience working in a skilled nursing facility and five years experience working in outpatient facilities. Jennifer has also worked in various pediatric clinics, school-based, and early intervention settings. Along with her strong orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation background, Jennifer has a special interest in strain-counterstrain and manual techniques. As a Physical Therapist she has a great interest in developing programs that empower her patients to regain their Independence.

TOBY LAKIN, PTA

Toby Lakin has been a Physical Therapist Assistant with Personalized Therapy, LLC since it's opening in 2006. He earned an Associates Degree in Physical Therapy at the College of Southern Maryland. After graduating in 1999, Toby, worked in various therapy settings including hospitals, outpatient, and skilled nursing facilities. He enjoyed working in local nursing homes and outpatient orthopedic clinics over the past 7 years. He has a special interest in sports rehabilitation.

Christy Barber, OTR/L

Christy is a licensed Occupational Therapist and joined Personalized Therapy, LLC in June 2010. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy from Robert Gordon University in 1998. Prior to joining Personalized Therapy, LLC, Christy worked over 10 years providing services to children in the school systems and out patient settings. She is certified in Neuro/Developmental treatment and Sensory Integration. Her professional interests include pediatrics, neurological, oculomotor skills, neck and back pain, and hand therapy.

Kristi Getson, Business Manager

Kristi Getson has been the Business Manager for Personalized Therapy, LLC since its opening in 2006. Prior to joining Personalized Therapy, LLC she worked as a Division's Business Operations Manager for a Department of Defense contractor. As a Mother of a Child with Autism she has specific interests in Special Education Advocacy, scientifically proven methodology in educating children with Autism, and effective biomedical interventions. She is the Chair for the Citizens Advisory Committee for Special Education and a member of the American Academy of Medical Coders. Kristi is responsible for managing the daily operations and staff of Personalized Therapy, LLC. Victor Castrillon, Business Development

Victor Castrillon is a licensed Aircraft/Commodities Broker. He manages Business Development for the company. Victor is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He has extensive experience in successfully managing and marketing businesses throughout the United States.

Rebecca Lira, Graphics and Childcare

Rebecca joined Personalized Therapy, LLC in July 2010. Prior to joining Personalized Therapy, LLC she worked in various settings while pursuing her education. These included positions as a nanny, office assistant, and graphic designer. She is currently pursuing a degree in Public Relations. She has a special interest in working with children and exploring her creativity through graphic design and jewelry making.

Jessica Goddard, Student Occupational Therapy Technician/Front Desk Coordinator

Jessica Goddard is an Occupational Therapy Student and joined Personalized Therapy, LLC as a Technician/Front Office Coordinator in May 2010. Jessica graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Occupational Therapy. She has experience working in various settings which include geriatric rehabilitation settings, out patient pediatric settings, and camps for children with disabilities. She will receive her Masters of Occupational Therapy in 2014.
