Susan Barry, MA, SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist | Speech Department Lead
Susan is a passionate Speech-Language Pathologist and leads our Speech Department with heart and experience. She believes deeply in every person’s potential and works hard to create a positive space where challenges don’t define anyone’s future.
Drawn initially to rehabilitation counseling and a desire to support individuals in achieving their goals, Susan became an integral part of our team in 2012. She deeply appreciates Personalized Therapy, LLC’s commitment to reaching a wide spectrum of patients from varied backgrounds. Within the field, Susan’s primary areas of focus include Assistive Technology (AAC, SGD, Cochlear Implants, Aurora Therapy) and language pragmatics. For Susan, the most rewarding part of her work is collaborating with parents and families. She finds joy in highlighting each child’s strengths and potential, and she consistently communicates her deep belief in their abilities.
Susan earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Deafness Rehabilitation Counseling, with a focus on Deafness, from Northern Illinois University. Before becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist, she also worked as a behavior specialist, which gave her a strong foundation in supporting a wide range of needs. She’s been working in the speech and rehab world since 2008 and brings a wealth of knowledge and heart to everything she does.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Susan enthusiastically supports her children in their various activities, enjoys playing board games, indulges in the latest television series, and enjoys diving into fun DIY projects and letting her creativity shine at home.
