Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is a scientifically validated approach that supports individuals, particularly those with autism spectrum disorders, in developing essential skills and reducing challenging behaviors. At Personalized Therapy, our expert team of Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs), Qualified Autism Service Practitioner-Supervisor (QASP-Ss) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) employ a comprehensive, client-centered approach to address the unique needs of each individual. We assist children and their families in overcoming behavioral challenges, helping them acquire the strategies and skills needed to thrive in their daily lives.
What Can ABA Therapy Help With?
ABA therapy can assist individuals in various areas, including:
- Improving communication and language skills.
- Enhancing social skills and relationships.
- Developing self-care and daily living skills.
- Increasing focus and attention span.
- Reducing maladaptive behaviors.
- Enhancing academic and learning abilities.
- Improving emotional regulation.
- Fostering independence and self-reliance.
Your ABA Therapy Journey: What to Expect?
At Personalized Therapy, we follow a structured, evidence-based approach to ABA therapy which includes:
- New Parent Seminar: Overview of ABA therapy and how this is implemented at Personalized therapy through a tiered model. This also includes a comprehensive review of what to expect during ABA therapy, policies and procedures, and expectations surrounding parent involvement.
- Thorough Assessment: An intake interview with one of our Clinical Supervisors, conduction of an initial assessment to identify individual’s strengths, abilities, and challenges, development of a tailored treatment plan with concrete treatment goals. These goals typically focus on reducing problematic behaviors and improving communication and other essential skills. The plan also includes specific strategies for caregivers, teachers, and therapists to use in achieving these goals.
- Pairing: Introduction of services used to establish rapport with the therapist and obtain baseline data.
- Implementation of Treatment Plan: Implementation of the treatment goals by the RBT, weekly monitoring and supervision by clinical supervisor, daily progress documentation via our web-based system, ongoing parent training and consultation, and monthly team workshops.
The frequency and length of sessions vary depending on individual needs and goals. The Clinical Supervisor (BCBA) will monitor progress and adjust the plan as necessary.
Why Choose Us?
At Personalized Therapy, our Clinical Supervisors and RBTs take the time to understand each client as an individual before developing customized treatment plans to meet their specific behavioral and developmental goals. We view behavior through your perspective – what skills and behaviors are most important for your child’s growth and success? Then we will work together to develop the strategies needed to achieve these outcomes.
Our therapists are specialists in behavioral science and child development, with a holistic understanding of how environmental, cognitive, and social factors influence behavior. We address not only the symptoms but also the underlying causes of behavioral challenges, ensuring comprehensive and lasting improvements.
We believe that every individual has the potential to learn and grow. Whether you’re a parent seeking support for your child with autism or a caregiver looking to enhance your skills in managing challenging behaviors, our dedicated team is here to support you on your journey to improved behavioral outcomes and enhanced quality of life.

Our goal is to provide the people of Southern Maryland with the best and most personalized outpatient therapy for all ages.
